The Foundation of Success: Self

The Foundation of Success:

Self

I have to live with myself and so

I want to be fit for myself to know

I want to be able as the days go by

To always look myself in the eye

I don’t want to have on some closet shelf

A lot of secrets about myself

And fool myself as I come and go

Into thinking no one else will know

The kind of man I really am

I don’t want to fix myself in a sham

While I aim for good success and health

I want to be able to like myself

I don’t want to look at the setting sun

And hate myself for the things I’ve done

No one knows who I am like me

I see things others may never see

I strive to walk with my head erect

I work to deserve all people’s respect

Whether rich or poor; giant or elf

I want to be able to like myself

The foundation of success is NOT self! the foundation of success must always be Christ! although we absolutely have to love ourselves, we cannot do that until we first love God. He knows us better than we know ourselves…who knows the creation better than the Creator!
If our success is rooted and anchored in Him, nothing we ever do will fail and whomever we become will be deemed a success!

Duly Noted. Certainly Christ is the source of our existence and as a consequence, the foundation of all we accomplish. The acknowledgement of “self” as the foundation of success is not to diminish or edit the quality of Christ’s role as an anchor to our vessels, but to highlight the living quarters of “choice.” The poem is written on the premise we were created as a free and moral age, whereby our creator makes it possible for us to have the right to the tree of life. Thus, we have before us two open doors through which we may chose “life” or “death.” The decision to submit to the creator is not made by the creator. Instead, the “createe” makes the choice. Fortunate for some and sad for others, is the person we see in the mirror. The person we see in the mirror is simply a reflection of the choices, both right and wrong, we make in the aggregate.

Whether a man be Egytian, Indian, Greek, Roman, Tueton, Mongolian, or American, his choices affect his end position. According to biblical text as written in Matthew 5:45, the creator allows “the sun to rise on the just and the unjust and he allows the rain to fall on the just and the unjust.” (Paraphrasing) Even if a nonbeliever gives freely, he will reap freely. Whether a man reaps respect, affecton, financial gain, kindness, anger, lying, or violence; is not predicated on his being a Christian or an Atheist. Instead, it is based on choices made within “self.”

To love Christ is simply to chose to act on his given principles. To love GOD, is to keep his commandments. One cannot keep a commandment except he decide to believe and thereafter chose to act on that belief. So, who is “Self”? “Self” is the compilation of the decisions we make. Therefore, I have to live with myself and so, I want to be fit for myself to know. I want to be able as the days go by, to always look myself in the eye…..
